Privacy and confidentiality
We abide to the standards of privacy and confidentiality of The British Psychological Society Code of Ethics and Conduct and to the Services Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. This means that everything we discuss in therapy is kept confidential unless we have concerns that you might hurt yourself or someone else, or the health, welfare or safety of children or vulnerable adults is at risk. In these circumstances we have the moral and professional obligation of disclosing that information to your GP or someone else involved in your care. Nevertheless, we would always try to discuss this matter with you whenever possible. We do not carry any information that could identify our clients in paper format, and all electronic records are kept safe by encryption.
If you believe you will not be able to attend a session, please let us know as soon as possible. One week’s notice of cancellation is required so we are able to allocate the session to someone else. If you are not able to contact us directly you can send us an e-mail or leave a message/text on our phone. Cancellations within one week will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the normal price, cancellations within 48 hours or non-attendances are charged at the full rate.
Length of therapy
The length of treatment differs according to your problem’s complexity and severity, but normally therapy lasts for 6 to 12 sessions. Some problems might require 20 sessions, and other more enduring and severe cases our even last for 1 year. To best guaranty the effectiveness of therapy, we see people weekly in an initial phase and space out the sessions to fortnightly and monthly according to your needs.
